Ingredients:
• 1/2 kg – shrimps, cleaned.
• 2 cups – onion, chopped.
• 1 cup – tomato, chopped.
• Lime size ball – tamarind.
• 3 – green chillies, slit.
• 5 tbsp – oil.
• 1 tsp – mustard.
• 1/2 tsp – fenugreek.
• a few – curry leaves.
• 2 tbsp – Ginger Garlic paste.
• 2 tsp – chilli powder.
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder.
• 3 tsp – coriander powder.
• salt to taste.
Method:
- Soak tamarind in 1/2 a cup of water and extract the juice.
- Heat the oil in a kadai.
- Add mustard and fenugreek.
- When they splutter, add curry leaves and green chillies.
- Fry for a few seconds.
- Add onion, fry till it is light brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, fry till fragrant.
- Add all the powders and tomato.
- Cook till the tomatoes are reduced to a pulp.
- Add shrimps and salt.
- Cover and simmer till prawns are cooked.
- Add tamarind extract and simmer without covering for 5 mins.
- Serve with steamed rice, idly or dosa.
