Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – Rice
• 1/2 cups – Corn
• 1 – Onion
• 1 – Bay Leaf
• 1/2 inch – Cinnamon stick
• 2 – Cloves
• 1 cup – water
• Oil – as required
• To Grind:
• 1 – Tomato
• 1 tbsp – Ginger
• 4 – Garlic pods
• 1/2 cup – Coriander leaves
• 3 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Garam Masala powder
• 1/4 inch – Cinnamon stick
• 2 – Cloves
• 10 – Cashew nuts

Method:

  1. Wash rice and soak in water for a while.
  2. Meanwhile, chop the onions.
  3. Grind all the ingredients under the ‘To grind’ list into a fine paste by adding water and keep aside.
  4. Cook the corn and keep aside.
  5. Heat enough oil in a pressure cooker and fry the cinnamon stick, cloves and bay leaf.
  6. Immediately add the onions and saute until they become translucent.
  7. Now add the ground paste and saute for few minutes.
  8. Drain the water from the rice, add it to the cooker along with the cooked corn, and saute for a few minutes.
  9. Finally add enough salt and 2 cups of water.
  10. Cook till 2-3 whistles.
