Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup seedless Tamarind
• 1/2 cup seedless Dates
• 1/2 cup crumbled Jaggery
• 2 cups water
• 1 Dried red chilli – add 2 Red Chillies if you want the chutney to be more hot and spicy
• 1/4 tsp dry Ginger powder (saunth powder)
• 1 tsp roasted Cumin seeds powder (bhuna Jeera powder)
• 1 tsp Coriander seeds (optional)
• black salt (kala namak)

Method:

  1. In a pan, take all the main 4 ingredients- tamarind, dates, jaggery, red chilly. Add water. Keep the pan to boil for about 5-7 mins.
  2. when the tamarind and dates become soft, and all the jaggery is melted, switch off the gas.
  3. Let the chutney ingredients cool. Grind the entire ingredients of the pan with ginger powder, cumin seed powder and black salt.
  4. Add some more water if required. Strain the chutney through a strainer.
  5. Chutney is ready.
