Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup seedless Tamarind
• 1/2 cup seedless Dates
• 1/2 cup crumbled Jaggery
• 2 cups water
• 1 Dried red chilli – add 2 Red Chillies if you want the chutney to be more hot and spicy
• 1/4 tsp dry Ginger powder (saunth powder)
• 1 tsp roasted Cumin seeds powder (bhuna Jeera powder)
• 1 tsp Coriander seeds (optional)
• black salt (kala namak)
Method:
- In a pan, take all the main 4 ingredients- tamarind, dates, jaggery, red chilly. Add water. Keep the pan to boil for about 5-7 mins.
- when the tamarind and dates become soft, and all the jaggery is melted, switch off the gas.
- Let the chutney ingredients cool. Grind the entire ingredients of the pan with ginger powder, cumin seed powder and black salt.
- Add some more water if required. Strain the chutney through a strainer.
- Chutney is ready.
