Ingredients:

• 1/2 cup – thick Tamarind pulp
• 1/2 cup – jaggery, grated
• 1/2 tsp – cumin seeds, crushed
• 1 – green chilli, finely chopped
• 1 tbsp – coriander leaves, finely chopped
• 1/2 cup – onions, finely chopped
• 1/2 tsp – chilli powder
• 2 pinches – black salt, powdered
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Put tamarind and jaggery in a deep heavy saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  3. Add all powders, salt, mix well.
  4. When mixture is thick, take off fire.
  5. When cooled to room temperature, transfer to a glass serving bowl.
  6. Add onions, coriander and chilli. Mix well.
  7. Serve cold with bhajias, pakoras, kachori, etc.
