Ingredients:

• Basmati Rice – 3 cups
• Cinnamon sticks – 3, two inches each
• Cloves – 6
• Cardamom – 4 buds
• Salt to taste
• Sambar masala
• Mustard Seeds
• Jeera – 1 tsp
• Oil – 2 tbsp
• Onions – 2 large, diced
• Tomatoes – 4 large

Method:

  1. In a pressure cooker, temper oil with mustard and jeera.
  2. Then add onions and saute them till they turn transparent.
  3. Add the spices and wait a few minutes till they start to give out their aroma.
  4. Then add the rice, tomatoes, onions, salt and sambhar masala.
  5. Add 6 cups of water.
  6. Close the cooker and cook as usual.
  7. Serve with chips and cucumber-yogurt salad.
