
Ingredients:
• 2 cups – tur dal
• 1-2 tbsp – Rock Salt
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Asafoetida
• 2 tbsp – Ghee
• 3 cups – water
• For garnish:
• Some Lemon wedges
• Slit Green chillies
• Ghee
Method:
- Wash and soak the dal in water for 20-30 mins.
- Pressure cook the dal with water till about 4-5 whistles. Churn the varan (dal) lightly.
- The dal should be thick in consistency.
- Add rock salt, turmeric powder and asafoetida.
- Add ghee to the varan.
- Let it cook on a slow flame for five minutes.
- Garnish with lemon wedges, slit green chillies and a dollop of ghee.
- Serve with hot steamed rice.
