Ingredients:

• 1.5 cups – Wheat flour
• 1/2 cup – Maida flour
• 3.5 cups – Sugar
• 1/2 cup – butter/ghee
• 10 – Cashewnuts
• a pinch of salt
• 1 tsp – Orange food colour
• 2 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 3 cups – water

Method:

  1. Melt the butter in simmering flame, fry the cashew nuts and keep away.
  2. Add the wheat flour to the melted butter, stir well for 5 minutes, then add the maida.
  3. Stir for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the colour powder and salt.
  5. Heat 3 cups of water in a pan.
  6. Add the hot water to the flour mixture and stir continuously.
  7. The flour will double in volume, turn thick like dough and get off the bottom of the kadhai.
  8. Add sugar and cardamom powder, then the cashews and put off the flame.
  9. Pour the halwa onto a plate. Serve hot or at room temperature.
