Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Wheat flour
• 1 cup – Rice flour
• 1 cup – gram flour
• 1 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 tsp – sesame seeds
• 2 tsp – Butter
• salt to taste
• oil for deep-frying

Method:

  1. Steam-cook the wheat flour in a cotton cloth (without adding water) for approximately 10 minutes.
  2. Let the flour cool. Sieve and keep aside.
  3. Add the rice flour, gram flour, butter, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, cumin seeds and salt together. Add the steam-cooked wheat flour. Knead a dough using enough water.
  4. Put small balls of the dough in a murukku press with star nozzle and squeeze out the murukkus onto a greased plate.
  5. Heat oil and deep-fry the murukkus in small batches.
