
Ingredients:
• 2.25 cups – flour
• 3/4 cup – shortening
• 1.5 cups – Sugar
• 1 cup – skimmed Milk
• 5 – eggs
• 1.5 tsp – vanilla essence
• 3 tsps – baking powder
• 1 tsp – salt
Method:
- Soften shortening by stirring.
- Gradually add sugar and cream till light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla essence.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt and add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
- Beat after each addition.
- Separate egg whites and beat until stiff.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Bake in paper lined round pans in moderate oven for 375 degrees F for 18-20 minutes.
