Ingredients:

• Yam – 500 gm
• grated Coconut – 1 cup, lightly filled
• Onion – ½ cup, finely chopped
• green chilies – 1 tsp, minced
• oil to fry
• salt – 1 tsp

Method:

  1. Wash and peel the yam. Cut into ½ cm cubes.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and keep aside for ½ hour.
  3. Squeeze the yam pieces tightly to drain the moisture.
  4. Heat oil for deep frying.
  5. Fry the yam pieces in batches till crisp.
  6. Drain on kitchen paper.
  7. Just before serving, toss the pieces with rest of the ingredients.
  8. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  9. Serve with steamed rice and dal.
