Ingredients:

• Red Chillies – according to your taste
• Channa dal – 1 cup
• Urad Dal – 1 cup
• Dry Coconut powder – 1.5 cups or 1/4 of the Coconut
• Cilantro – 1 bunch
• Tamarind – 2-3 tsp
• Hing or Asafoetida – 1 tsp
• Salt as required
• Oil – 1 tsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp

Method:

  1. Fry red chillies, channa dal, urad dal and asafoetida until they become light red. Powder them and keep them aside.
  2. Now add dry coconut powder, salt, cilantro, tamarind and mix well (preferably in mixie).
  3. Put one tsp oil in the pan, add 1 tbsp of mustard seeds and then fry for 2 minutes on low fire.
  4. Remove from fire, cool and store in an air-tight container.
  5. It goes well with rice and chapattis.
