Ingredients:

• 1 – Onion (medium size)
• 3 – Tomatoes (big)
• 1 tbsp – sesame seeds
• 4 – Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Urad Dal – 1tsp
• 4-5 – Curry leaves
• 1tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 pinch – Asafoetida
• salt according to taste
• 3 tbsp – oil
• 1 handful – Cilantro

Method:

  1. Dry-roast the sesame seeds for a minute.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  3. Once mustard seeds start to crackle, add urad dal and chopped green chillies.
  4. Next add chopped onions, tomatoes and continue to fry.
  5. Add chilli powder and salt before the tomatoes turn mushy.
  6. Once the tomatoes turn mushy, set aside and allow the mixture to cool.
  7. Finally, grind the above mixture along with roasted sesame seeds and cilantro. It goes well with idli, dosa, methi/paneer-parantha.
