Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Rice
• 1 cup – Urad Dal
• a pinch of cooking soda
• 1 big pinch of salt
• For stuffing:
• 1 cup – Sugar
• 1/2 – small finely ground Coconut
• 25 – each of finely sliced cashewnut, Almonds and Raisins
• 1 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 1/4 tsp – ground Nutmeg

Method:

  1. Soak the rice and dal separately for about 6 hours.
  2. Drain out the water nicely, grind them separately and mix them together.
  3. Cover and set aside in a hot place for 3 hours.
  4. Mix salt and soda. Melt the sugar over a slow fire till red.
  5. Mix the rest of the filling ingredients and keep aside.
  6. Grease katories nicely, spread coconut mixture on top and cover more and steam.
