
Ingredients:
• 1/2 kg mackerel
• 1 cup Coconut grated
• A small piece of Ginger sliced thinly
• 4 flakes of Garlic sliced thinly
• 2 Green chillies
• A lot of Curry leaves
• 1 tbsp Red Chilli powder
• 1/2 tbsp Turmeric
• 1/2 tbsp cumin powder
• Juice of Tamarind – Lemon-sized
• For grinding:
• Grind the above 1 cup of Coconut grated with 1/2 tbsp of Turmeric nicely and fine.
• Seasoning:
• Cut Onions into small, mustard. and oil.
Method:
- Clean the fish and cut each fish to two pieces.
- Now add 3 cups of water to the ground coconut and add the ginger, garlic, green chillies, red chilli powder, cumin powder and tamarind juice to it and finally the curry leaves.
- Let this mixture boil nicely.
- Once boiled, add the fish pieces and cover till the fish is done.
- When the fish is done, it is the turn of the seasoning.
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds.
- When it splutters, add onions and brown it and add this mixture over the fish.
- Tastes excellent with hot basmati rice.
