Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Channa dal
• 3 – Green chillies
• 2 sprigs – Coriander leaves
• Some Curry leaves
• Onions – 1 large
• Some dill/mint optional
• Oil for frying

Method:

  1. Soak the channa dal for 2-3 hours. Drain the water, and grind the dal without water (or very little water) into a coarse paste.
  2. Chop the onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves, dill/mint and green chillies finely, and add to the ground dal.
  3. Add salt to taste. Mix well.
  4. Make small balls out of the mixture, flatten them slightly.
  5. Heat oil in a kadai. Deep fry the vadas till golden brown.
  6. Remove excess oil with paper towels.
