Ingredients:

• 1 cup – grated copra
• 2 – red apples
• 1.5 tsp – Urad Dal
• 5 – dry Red Chillies
• 1/2 tsp -asafoetida
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 4 – Curry leaves
• 1/3 tsp – Tamarind paste
• 1/2 tsp – Jaggery
• 2 tsp – oil
• a pinch – Turmeric
• Salt as per taste.

Method:

  1. Heat a kadai and dry roast the urad dal, red chillies and asafoetida, powder the roasted masala in a blender.
  2. Add the grated copra and blend to a smooth paste with water and keep aside.
  3. Chop apples into 1 inch cubes.
  4. Heat oil in kadai and splutter mustard seeds; add turmeric and curry leaves and then add the chopped apples and cook covered.
  5. Add few spoons of water if required. Saute occasionally.
  6. Apples are done once they become tender and the skin changes colour.
  7. Add the masala-copra paste to the apples and boil.
  8. Add water to get the required consistency.
  9. Add tamarind paste, jaggery, salt and boil for another 2-3 mins.
  10. Serve.
