Ingredients:

• Shredded Cabbage- 250 gms
• Powdered Black Pepper – 1.5 tsp
• Cumin seeds – 1.5 tsp
• Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal – 3/4 tsp each
• Sugar- 1/2 tsp
• Oil – 2 tbsp
• Salt- to taste
• Asafoetida – to garnish

Method:

  1. Wash the cabbage thoroughly.
  2. Add oil in a kadai and when warm, add mustard seeds, urad dal and cumin seeds.
  3. When seeds pop, urad dal turns slightly brown and cumin seeds smell spicy, add the cabbage.
  4. Sprinkle water on cabbage and add salt.
  5. Cover and cook for about 10 mins or till the cabbage is cooked.
  6. Add the powdered black pepper.
  7. Stir for 2 mins.
  8. Add half a tsp sugar.
  9. Garnish with asafoetida.
  10. Ready to serve!
