Ingredients:

• Brinjals – 6 | Thur dhal – 1 cup
• Tamarind – 1 Lemon size
• Channa dal 1 tsp
• Urad Dal – 1 tsp
• Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
• Red Chillies – 6
• Black pepper – 1/2 tsp
• Asafoetida – 1 pinch
• Coriander seeds – 1/4 tsp
• Onion – 1
• Peanut oil – 1 tbsp
• Peanuts – 1 tbsp
• Copra -1 tbsp
• Mustard -1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Roast the channa dal, urad dhal, red chillies, pepper, asafoetida, copra, fenugreek seeds and coriander seeds
  2. Fry onion in 1 tsp oil and add it to the roasted masala and grind it into a paste
  3. Cook the thur dhal and peanuts in the pressure cooker
  4. Heat some oil in a kadai and add the mustard and the chopped brinjal. Fry the brinjals until tender.
  5. Add the tamarind juice and bring it to boil and then add the ground masala and salt and boil it for 2 mins
  6. Add the cooked dhal and boil for 10 mins on low fire
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves
