Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup – Sugar
• 450 ml – Milk
• 3 slices – bread
• 1/2 cup – Butter
• 3-4 tbsp – chopped nuts (almond, cashewnut)
• 3 – eggs
• 1 tsp – vanilla
Method:
- Place the sugar in a thick bottomed pan. Add 1/2 cup of water.
- Place on moderate heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Increase the heat and cook steadily (do not stir) until the syrup turns golden brown. Remove from the flame.
- Pour warm milk and stir until the caramel is uniformly mixed with the milk. Let the mixture cool.
- Remove crust from the bread slices and cut into triangles.
- Melt the butter.
- Dip the bread slices in butter and arrange in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle nuts on top.
- Beat the eggs with vanilla and mix with caramel milk.
- Pour on top of the bread pieces. Let it soak for an hour.
- Bake in a moderate oven (180 degrees C) until set (about 45 minutes). Serve warm or cold.
