Ingredients:

• 1 cup – moong dal or any other dal
• 1 cup – greens, chopped finely (spinach or any other greens)
• 2 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 – tomatoes, chopped
• 1 – onion, chopped
• Salt to taste
• For the seasoning:
• 1 tsp – mustard
• 2 – red chillies, broken into bits
• A few Curry leaves
• 1 – tbsp – oil

Method:

  1. Wash the dal and cook it along with the greens, tomato, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and onion with sufficient water in a pressure cooker.
  2. When done open the cooker, add salt and some more water and mash well.
  3. In another vessel, heat oil and add the mustard, broken red chillies, curry leaves and fry for some time.
  4. When the mustard starts to splutter pour in the cooked dal.
  5. Serve with rice.
