Ingredients:
• Toor (red gram) dal – 1 cup
• Green chillies – 2, slit
• Ghee or vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Red Chillies – 2 small, broken
• Asafetida powder – 1/2 tsp
• Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Pressure cook the dal with 2 cups of water and green chillies for 10 mins.
- Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Now mash the dal with a ladle.
- Add salt to taste and water for desired consistency. Let it boil
- Heat the ghee or oil in a small pan and splutter the mustard.
- To this add the red chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Saute and add to the dal. Mix well
- Serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
