Ingredients:

• 3 medium sized Pomfrets
• 5 medium sized Onions (finely chopped)
• 3 medium-sized Tomatoes (finely chopped)
• 4 Green chillies (finely chopped)
• 12 Cloves – Garlic (finely chopped)
• 2.5 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 2 .5 tsp – coriander powder
• 3/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 6 tbsp – oil (for sauteing the onions)
• sufficient oil for shallow frying the fish
• 2 tbsp – Coriander leaves ( finely chopped)
• salt to taste

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and cut each pomfret into 3 medium sized slices.
  2. Rub salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder on the fish pieces. Put it aside for an hour.
  3. Shallow fry the fish pieces on a medium flame till done. Keep aside. Heat 6 tbsp oil in a kadai.
  4. Add onions, green chillies and garlic. Saute till the onions turn pink.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes, powdered spices and some salt.
  6. Cook on a low flame till the tomatoes are tender and the oil has separated.
  7. Add the fried pieces of fish and mix very gently. Simmer for five minutes.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with hot phulkas and onion rings.
