Ingredients:

• Fish slices (pomfret, mullet or mackerel) – 1/2 kg
• Dry Red Chillies – 8
• Black Peppercorn – 1/2 tsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Garlic – 4 flakes
• Shallot (sambar onion) – 4 to 5
• Rava – 2 tbsp, to coat
• Oil to deep fry
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash the fish, drain and pat dry with kitchen paper.
  2. Grind chillies, pepper corn, turmeric, garlic and onion to a smooth paste and mix with salt.
  3. Apply the paste on both sides of fish slices.
  4. Keep aside for 15-30 minutes.
  5. Coat with semolina and deep fry in moderately hot oil till golden brown.
  6. Drain well and serve.
