• 1 cup – Channa dal
• A pinch of sodabicarb
• salt to taste
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/4 tsp – cumin powder
• 2-3 pinches – Garam Masala powder
• oil to deep fry


  1. Wash dal and soak it overnight in plenty of water with soda.
  2. Drain and spread on a thick clean towel to absorb excess water.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan. Add some dal and fry till whitish and almost crisp.
  4. Drain and put on kitchen paper to soak excess oil.
  5. Repeat for remaining dal.
  6. Take them in a large plate.
  7. Add all other ingredients and mix till well coated.
  8. Cool completely before storing in an airtight jar.
