Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup – green grams
• 1/2 cup – Channa dal
• 1 – Potato (chopped)
• 2 – Carrots (chopped)
• 1 – onion(chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (slit opened)
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Urad Dal
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• 1/4 tsp – asafetida powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• A few sprigs – Curry leaves
• Salt to taste
• Oil as required
• To roast and grind:
• 2 tbsp – Coriander seeds
• 1/2 tsp -peppercorns
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 3 – dry Red Chillies
• 3 tbsp – grated Coconut
Method:
- Roast and grind all the ingredients into a fine paste with enough water.
- Pressure cook green grams and channa dal with turmeric powder and enough water until 3 whistles and keep aside.
- Heat enough oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, asafoetida powder and fry the red chillies until brown.
- Add onions, curry leaves, green chillies and saute until the onions turn translucent.
- Add carrots and potatoes and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the cooked and mashed dals, the ground spice paste and cook everything for a few minutes.
