Ingredients:
• 2 lbs – kathal (jackfruit, unripe)
• 2 – onions, medium
• 2 – tomatoes, medium
• oil for deep frying, mustard or any
• 1.5 tsp – chilli powder
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp -Garam Masala 1/2 tsp
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Before proceeding, spread a little oil on your palms to avoid the jackfruit from sticking to your hands.
- Peel the kathal and chop into 1 – 1.5 inch pieces.
- The almond-shaped seeds can be peeled and kept aside with kathal.
- Heat oil in kadai and deep fry the kathal and seeds.
- Drain the excess oil.
- Take about 2-3 tbsps of oil, add sliced onions and fry till it turns golden brown.
- To this add chopped tomatoes and fry for another 5-7 minutes.
- Add coriander powder, chilli powder, haldi powder and fry for about a minute.
- To this, add the fried kathal and mix well and cook covered for 15-20 minutes turning in between.
- Finally, add garam masala and serve hot with chapatti.
