Ingredients:
• 2 cups – raw Rice
• 1 cup – grated Coconut
• Salt to taste
• Water to sprinkle
Method:
- To make rice flour:
- Soak the rice for about 3 hours and strain it.
- Spread the rice on a cloth or a plate and dry the same.
- Grind the dried rice to a fine powder.
- To make puttu:
- Add salt and water (a little by little) to the rice flour.
- Try to make a lump out of the wet mixture and ensure that the lump does not break off. This is the right stage when you can stop adding water.
- Now add a handful of grated coconut in the puttu maker followed by three handfuls of rice flour and again followed by one handful of grated coconut.
- Follow this step till you reach the top of the cylinder.
- Cover with the lid and steam for 2-3 minutes.
