Ingredients:

• 6-7 – Dates deseeded
• Tamarind – Lemon sized ball
• 1/4 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1/4 tsp – carom seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Fennel seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1 cup – water
• 2 inch cube – Jaggery
• 1/2 tsp – black salt
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Boil water in a pan, add tamarind, dates, jaggery and remove from the stove.
  2. Let it soak in water for an hour.
  3. Grind into a smooth paste. Transfer the paste to a pan and add another cup of water and mix well.
  4. Now add red chilli powder, cumin seeds, ajwain, fennel seeds, black salt and salt.
  5. Cook till it reduces to a consistency of sauce.
