Ingredients:

• 1 cup – masoor dal
• 1 cup – Tuvar dal
• 2 – small Zucchinis (cut into small cubes)
• 2 – Onions (finely sliced)
• 7 – Garlic pods (finely sliced)
• 1 – small piece of Ginger
• 4 – Tomatoes (cut into big cubes)
• A few Curry leaves
• 5 – Green chillies (finely sliced)
• 5 tsps – Ghee
• Salt to taste
• Garnish:
• 1 tsp – Jeera (cumin seeds)
• 1 tsp – rai (mustard seeds)
• A sprig of coriander (dhaniya leaves)
• 1/2 tsp – chaat masala
• Few drops of Lemon juice

Method:

  1. Pressure cook the two dals with a little turmeric, salt, green chillies, few tsps of ghee, ginger, curry leaves and garlic for about 20 minutes.
  2. In a frying pan heat ghee.
  3. Add jeera and rai. When they start spluttering, add onion and fry till light brown.
  4. Add zucchini and fry till it becomes soft.
  5. Add tomatoes and continue frying.
  6. When the ghee separates from the masala, add the cooked dal.
  7. Add a little water if needed.
  8. Cook for about 5 minutes. Mix well.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander, chaat masala and lemon juice.
  10. Serve hot with rotis or rice.
