Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Peanuts (soaked and skin removed)
• 2 cups – gram flour
• 1.5 cups – Rice flour
• 1 tbsp – Butter (room temperature)
• 2 tbsp – sesame seeds
• 1/2 tsp – Asafoetida powder
• Salt
• Oil for Deep Frying

Method:

  1. Grind the peanuts with a cup of water as a fine paste.
  2. Meanwhile take the gram flour, rice flour, butter, sesame seeds, asafoetida powder and salt in a large bowl, mix everything for a while.
  3. Now add the ground paste and water to turn them into a soft and smooth dough.
  4. Take the murukku press with star nozzle or ribbon pakoda nozzle.
  5. Drop gently enough dough in the murukku press.
  6. Meanwhile heat the oil for deep-frying, either you can squeeze out directly the murukku dough to the hot oil or you can make small sized murukkus using a greased plate.
  7. Drain the murukkus with paper towel and enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
