Ingredients:

• 1 lb-paneer
• 1 inch piece-ginger
• 6 -garlic pods
• 2 – Onions -(medium) or 400 g (diced)
• 1 tsp-turmeric powder
• 2 tsp-red chilli powder
• 1.5 tbsp-coriander powder
• 1 tbsp-cumin powder
• 2- Tomatoes – (large, chopped)
• 2.75 cups-water or whey
• 5 cups- Green peas (canned or frozen)
• 1/2 tsp-garam masala powder
• 1/2 cup-vegetable oil
• Cilantro for garnishing
• salt

Method:

  1. Grind ginger and garlic into a paste or crush them in a mortar and pestle.
  2. Place pressure cooker on high heat and heat the oil. When the oil is hot, add onions and fry till golden brown.
  3. Add prepared ginger and garlic and stir for a few seconds.
  4. Add turmeric, chilli, coriander, cumin powders, salt, tomatoes and 1/4 cup water or whey.
  5. Stir occasionally and cook till tomatoes are pulpy and oil separates, for about 5 minutes.
  6. Add peas and saute for about 2 minutes and add the remaining water or whey.
  7. Close cooker and bring to full pressure on high heat, then reduce heat and cook for another min.
  8. Remove cooker from heat and release pressure.
  9. Open cooker and place it on medium heat and add paneer.
  10. Simmer for about 5 minutes and stir in garam masala powder.
  11. Serve hot garnished with cilantro.
