Ingredients:

• 1 cup – raw Rice
• 2 cups – water ( for soaking Rice )
• 12 bulbs – ripe Jackfruit with seeds removed and the flesh cleaned
• 3/4 cup – grated Coconut
• 3/4 cup – melted Jaggery
• 1/4 tsp – Cardamom powder
• 1.5 tsp – oil

Method:

  1. For batter:
  2. Wash and clean rice. Soak in water for 5 – 6 hours. Drain out water completely.
  3. Chop jackfruit and keep aside.
  4. Mix rice, grated coconut, chopped jackfruit and melted jaggery together and grind to a thick and coarse paste. Sprinkle little water while grinding. Final colour of the batter should be light brown.
  5. Add cardamom powder.
  6. Pour batter in greased steel thalis and steam in a steamer / pressure cooker (without weight) for 25 – 30 mins till done.
  7. Allow it to cool for 15 – 20 mins.
  8. Cut into desired pieces and shallow fry in ghee on a medium heat till golden and fragrant.
