
Ingredients:
• 5 medium sized Pomfrets
• 1 tbsp – oil (for roasting the masala)
• 2 medium sized Onions (chopped)
• 10 to 12 Cloves Garlic (chopped)
• 10 to 12 Curry leaves
• 10 pepper Corns
• 2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 2.5 tsp – coriander powder
• ½ tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1.5 tbsp – Tamarind juice
• 7 to 8 tbsp – oil for frying the fish
• salt to taste
Method:
- Clean and wash the fish thoroughly. Make 2 thick slices of each pomfret.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and fry chopped onions, garlic, curry leaves and peppercorns on a low flame till you get an aroma.
- Cool and grind to a fine paste by adding a little water.
- To the ground paste add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and tamarind juice. Mix well.
- Marinate the fish pieces in this masala for a couple of hours.
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan or a tawa and fry the fish on both sides on a medium flame till golden in colour.
