Ingredients:

• 1 cup – Tuvar dal
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2 – Tomatoes
• salt
• For seasoning:
• 1 tsp – mustard and Urad Dal
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 2 – Red Chillies
• 2 – Garlic flakes
• A sprig of Curry leaves

Method:

  1. Wash and clean tuvar dal, add sufficient water along with turmeric powder and tomatoes.
  2. Pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles (until the tuvar dal gets cooked well).
  3. Mash them well and keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when they stop sputtering add urad dal, followed by curry leaves.
  5. Add cumin seeds split and add red chillies. Saute for a minute.
  6. Now crush, add the garlic and fry it for a min.
  7. Add these ingredients with the mashed dal, add salt and mix it gently.
  8. Serve with hot rice along with little ghee.
