Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Chickpeas (soaked overnight)
• 1/2 cup – Soya chunks/Meal maker
• 1 – Onion (chopped)
• 3 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Ginger (chopped)
• 2 – Garlic Cloves (crushed)
• 1/2 tsp – Fennel seeds (crushed)
• Few Curry leaves
• Few Coriander leaves (chopped)
• Salt
• Oil for Deep Frying

Method:

  1. Cook soya chunks in hot water and drain excess of the water, squeeze out water and keep it aside.
  2. Grind the chickpeas without adding water, if it is too hard to grind just sprinkle few drops of water, finally add the cooked soya chunks and grind as a bit coarse paste.
  3. Now add chopped onions, chopped green chillies, ginger pieces, crushed garlic, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, crushed fennel seeds and salt to the ground batter.
  4. Heat oil for deep frying.
  5. Make small balls from the vada batter and flatten them.
  6. Drop gently the flattened vadas on the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown.
  7. Serve with a cup of tea of simply with coconut chutney.
