Ingredients:

• 2 cups – Mixed dals (channa dal, masoor dal, Toor Dal soaked for 2hours)
• 1 – Onion (big and chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (chopped)
• 1 tsp – Ginger (chopped)
• 1/2 tsp – Fennel seeds (crushed)
• Few Curry leaves
• Few Coriander leaves (chopped)
• Salt
• Oil for greasing

Method:

  1. Drain the excess water from the dals and grind the dals coarsely without adding water. (If it is too dry to grind just sprinkle few drops of water).
  2. Add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, ginger pieces, chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves, crushed fennel seeds and salt to the ground batter and mix everything well.
  3. Make small balls with the palms and flatten them.
  4. Arrange the flattened vadas over the idly plates lined with parchment paper.
  5. Steam cook for 10-15 minutes in an idly cooker and enjoy warm with ketchup or chutneys.
