Ingredients:
• 1/2 kg – Small Onions/madras Onions
• 1 cup – Tamarind juice
• 2 tsp – Chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – Chopped Garlic
• 1 tsp – Chopped Ginger
• 1-2 sprigs – Curry leaves
• salt to taste
• 2 tbsp – Oil
• 1 tsp – Cumin powder
• 2 tbsp -Sugar.
Method:
- Peel the onions and soak in a bowl of water.
- Heat oil to a pan, add the curry leaves, ginger, garlic and saute for a few minutes.
- Add the small onions, chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder and fry 4-5 mins.
- Now add the salt, sugar and tamarind juice. Simmer on low heat until the onions are tender and the gravy thickens.
- Serve with rice or chapattis.
