Ingredients:

• 1 cup – toor dal.
• 1/2 cup – onion, cut to small pieces.
• 3 – green chillies.
• 1 small piece – ginger.
• 2 pods – garlic.
• 1.5 tsps – dhania.
• 3/4 tsp – jeera.
• 3/4 tsp – saunf.
• 1 tsp – mustard.
• 1 tsp – urad dal.
• 1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder.
• Curry leaves for seasoning.
• oil for frying.
• salt to taste.

Method:

  1. Soak tuvar dal in water for 1/2 hour. Grind the wet tuvar dal along with green chillies, ginger, garlic, dhania, saunf, jeera and salt to a coarse paste.
  2. Mix cut onions and turmeric powder with the ground paste and steam the mixture on greased idly plates in cooker for about 10 minutes.
  3. Cool to room temperature.
  4. Crumble the mixture to uniform consistency.
  5. Heat oil in frying pan.
  6. Add mustard, urad dal and curry leaves for seasoning.
  7. Fry the dal mixture along with the seasoning in low heat till the mixture is dry and light brown.
  8. Keep stirring to ensure uniform frying.
  9. Serve hot. | |
