
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – basmati Rice (washed and soaked for 30 minutes)
• 1 cup – shelled Green peas (fresh or frozen)
• ½ cup – small soya chunks
• 2 Onions (finely sliced)
• 1 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 2 piece Cinnamon
• 2 black Cardamoms (peeled)
• 5 to 6 green Cardamoms (peeled)
• 2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 2.5 cups water
• 5 to 6 Cloves
• 2 Bay Leaves
• salt to taste
• 5 tbsp – oil
Method:
- Soak the soya chunks in hot water for 20 mins.
- Drain out the water and keep aside the chunks.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottom vessel.
- Add the cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves and cardamoms. Saute for few seconds.
- Add the sliced onions and fry on a medium flame till golden brown.
- Add the soya chunks, green peas and red chilli powder.
- Saute on a low flame for five mins.
- Add the rice, 2.5 cups water and salt. Mix well. Simmer.
- Cover with a lid. Gently mix at regular intervals.
- Cook till the rice is done.
- Serve hot with raitha or any gravy dish.
