
Ingredients:
• Toor Dal – 1 cup
• Red Chillies – 2 or 3
• Asafoetida – a pinch
• Grated Coconut – 3 tbsp
• Tamarind – 1 Lemon size
• Coriander leaves – 1/4 bunch
• Salt to taste
Method:
- Soak tuvar dal in water for 45 mins, grind it with chillies and asafoetida and salt into a coarse semi-solid mix.
- Add grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves.
- Soak tamarind in water, strain well and boil this, with salt.
- Make small balls of the dal mix and boil in the tamarind water.
- When the dal balls are fully cooked, they rise to the surface.
- Serve hot.
