Ingredients:
• 2 cups – dal
• 2 – Tomatoes
• 1 cup – boiled peas
• 1 cup – finely sliced Onion
• 2 – dry Red Chillies
• 1 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• 1 tsp – chilli powder
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1 tsp – Ginger paste
• 1 tsp – chopped Coriander leaves
• A pinch of Asafoetida
• Salt to taste
• Oil to fry
Method:
- Boil the dal and keep it aside.
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a kadai. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
- Add the dry red chillies and onions.
- Saute the onions.
- Put the tomatoes in boiling water for 10 minutes.
- Peel off the skin and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
- Add the tomatoes and boiled peas to the onions.
- Add dal and one cup of water.
- To this, add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, asafoetida and salt. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
