Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup – Black Night Shade
• Small Lemon sized ball – Tamarind
• 2 tsp – Sambhar Powder
• 1/2 tsp – Urad Dal
• 1/2 tsp – Channa Dal
• 1 tsp – Oil
• 1 spring Curry leaves
• 1 pinch of Asafoetida
• 1/4 cup – Coconut Milk
• 4 tsp – Soaked and Boiled White Channa
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Soak tamarind in water.Extract the juice and keep aside.
  2. In a heavy bottomed vessel, add oil followed by urad dal and channa dal.
  3. Stir fry for some time till they turn brown and then add asafoetida and curry leaves.
  4. With this,add black night shade and stir well.
  5. Now, add sambhar powder, salt and tamarind extract.
  6. Boil till the raw smell goes away.
  7. Once the mixture gets thickened, add coconut milk.
  8. Tasty Black Night Shade Arai Puli Vatha Kuzhambu is ready and serve hot with rice and dal with dollops of ghee.
