Ingredients:

• 8 – Fish slices
• 1/4 cup – Onion
• 4 – Garlic Cloves
• A few Curry leaves
• 1 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 2.5 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• Tamarind (lemon size)
• 3 tsp – Oil
• 1/4 tsp – Mustard Seeds
• Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Grind the onion, garlic and curry leaves very coarsely.
  2. Soak the tamarind in a cup of water and extract the juice from it.
  3. Pour the tamarind juice in a bowl.
  4. Add the ground mixture, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
  5. In a heated pan, add oil and mustard seeds.
  6. When they splutter, add the mixture from the bowl and close pan with a lid.
  7. Boil for 5-8 minutes. Now remove the lid and add the fish and cook for 5 more minutes.
  8. Then heat the kozhambu till it becomes thick.
