Ingredients:
• Tur dal – 1 cup
• Oil – 2 tbsp
• Onion – 1
• Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
• Garlic paste – 1 tsp
• Tomato(diced or paste) – 3 tbsp
• Tamarind – 6-8 pieces (not paste)
• Red Chilli powder – 1 tsp
• Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
• Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
• Jeera seeds – 1 tsp
• Curry leaves
• Salt to taste
• Coriander leaves
Method:
- Wash tuvar dal and boil it.
- Mash the dal.
- In a kadai, put oil.
- Add curry leaves, mustard seeds and jeera seeds.
- Fry for a minute
- Add onion and fry till slightly brown.
- Add ginger and garlic paste.
- Fry for a minute.
- Then add the tomatoes (paste or diced).
- Cook it till the oil separates.
- Add tamarind in it. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
- Cook for 4 to 5 mins.
- Add the mashed tur dal.
- Add water as per the thickness required. Add salt to taste.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
