Ingredients:

• 1 large or 2 small – Laukis
• 1 cup – Channa dal (Bengal gram) soaked for 1 hour
• 1 – large Onion
• 2 medium Tomatoes
• 1 Clove
• 1 inch Cinnamon
• 3 Garlic Cloves
• A piece if Ginger
• 1 tsp -n chilli powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric
• Lots of coriander for garnishing
• salt to taste
• 1 tbsp – oil
• water to cook

Method:

  1. In a pressure cooker, saute clove, cinnamon and then garlic, ginger and onion.
  2. Add tomatoes and fry a little.
  3. Cut lauki into cubes.
  4. Add to the onion mixture along with the soaked channa dal.
  5. Add chilli and turmeric powders and salt.
  6. Pour enough water to cover the vegetables.
  7. Pressure cook for 15 minutes or till done.
  8. Garnish with coriander.
  9. Serve with rotis or rice.
