Ingredients:

• 2 cups – mixed vegetables
• 1/4 cup – Toor Dal
• 1/4 cup – split moong dal
• 1 – Onion (chopped)
• 1 – Tomato (chopped)
• 2 – Green chillies (slit)
• 1/2 tsp – Mustard Seeds and Urad Dal
• 1 – dry Red Chilli
• 5 – Curry leaves
• 1 tsp – rasam powder
• salt to taste
• oil as needed

Method:

  1. Wash the dals and pressure-cook up to 3 hisses.
  2. Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, urad dal and red chilli.
  3. When the seeds splutter, add the onion, green chillies and tomato and stir continuously until the onions turn translucent and the tomatoes mushy.
  4. Add the mixed vegetables and curry leaves to the pan and stir until they are a bit cooked.
  5. Add the cooked dals with salt and rasam powder and bring to boil.
  6. Put the flame on simmer, close the lid and cook for 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with rice topped with ghee.
