
Ingredients:
• For Kofta:
• 2 raw plantain/banana
• 1 Potato
• 1 small Onion (finely chopped)
• Grated Ginger
• 1-2 green chillies(finely chopped)
• Salt to taste
• Red Chillies powder (optional)
• Coriander powder
• For gravy:
• 1 Onion
• 1-2 Garlic Cloves
• 1 Ginger
• 1 Tomato
• 2-3 Green chillies
• 1 tsp – Cumin powder
• Garam Masala
• 2 Cardamom
• 1 Cinnamon stick
• 2 Bay Leaves
• Turmeric powder
• Salt to taste
Method:
- For koftas:
- Cut raw plantains and potato into pieces and boil till they are soft, and mash them together to smoothness.
- Add all the ingredients as listed above for kofta and mix them well.
- Make round balls with the mixture.
- Mix 1 tsp all purpose flour (maida), 1/2 tsp rice flour(optional, added for extra crispiness) and salt with water to make a thin paste for coating the koftas.
- Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan or Kadai. Dip the koftas in the above mix and fry till golden brown.
- Koftas are ready.
- For gravy:
- Make a paste of onion, garlic, ginger and green chillies.
- Heat 3 tsp of the remaining oil in the kadai. Add bay leaves, coarsely crushed cardamom and cinnamon stick.
- When they start to splutter add the above paste and fry on medium heat. Add one finely chopped tomato, turmeric, cumin powder, 1/2 tsp chilli powder and fry till oil separates.
- Add 2 cups of warm water, salt (according to taste), little sugar and boil for 4-5 minutes.
- Add koftas and cook covered on low flame for one min.
- Add 1 tsp of ghee and garam masala powder and remove from heat.
- Keep covered until you serve with hot chapattis or steamed rice.
