Ingredients:

• 1 cup – masoor dal
• 1 tbsp – ginger/garlic paste
• 2 – ripe Tomatoes
• Pinch – of Turmeric
• Red Chilli powder (to taste)
• Curry leaves
• Coriander leaves
• salt
• 2 Lemons
• For the baghaar: jeera, whole Red Chillies
• 1 pod – Garlic
• Curry leaves and Red Chilli powder

Method:

  1. Boil the washed dal with tomatoes, ginger, garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric and salt.
  2. Mash with ladle once totally softened.
  3. Add fresh curry leaves, coriander and all of the lemon juice.
  4. Heat oil, add jeera, whole red chillies, crushed garlic and red chilli powder in that order.
  5. Cover immediately with lid.
  6. Serve hot.
