
Ingredients:
• 450 gms – Spaghetti
• 100 gms – Onions
• 2 flakes
• For the meatballs:
• 450 gms – Lean Meat
• 100 gms – White bread
• 450 gms – Tomatoes
• 1 tbsp – Brown sugar
• 1 tbsp – Parsley (chopped)
• 85 gms – Cheese
• Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
- Soak bread in water.
- Squeeze dry and mash with fork.
- Add finely chopped onions, chopped parsley, minced meat, grated cheese and seasoning.
- Beat eggs lightly and combine with mixture.
- Shape into small balls and fry in hot oil.
- Drain on absorbent paper and set aside.
- To make the sauce:
- Heat oil in a heavy pan. Add chopped onions and crushed garlic and cook till golden.
- Add blanched and pipped tomatoes, sugar, thyme, salt and pepper. Lower heat.
- Cover and cook slowly for one hour.
- Add meat balls and cook gently for another 3 mins.
- Boil spaghetti in boiling salted water.
- Drain and dish into a hot plate.
- Pour sauce with meat balls over spaghetti.
- Serve a bowl of grated cheese separately.
