
Ingredients:
• 1 cup – Rice
• 1/2 cup – tur dal –
• 2 – tomatoes, finely chopped
• 1 – onion, medium finely chopped
• 1/4 cup – carrot, diced
• 1 – potato, small diced
• 1/4 cup – Green peas
• 1/2 tsp – Red Chilli powder
• 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
• 1/2 tsp – Cumin seeds
• 1 tbsp – oil
• salt to taste
• 2 tbsp – coriander, chopped
Method:
- Wash rice and dal, keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure pan and add cumin seeds. When they are brown, add finely chopped onions and saute till transparent.
- Add finely chopped tomatoes and fry till pulpy.
- Add chopped carrot, potatoes and peas and fry some more.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and fry for 2 more minutes.
- Add washed rice and dal and fry on low for 3 minutes.
- Add 4 cups water, salt to taste and close pressure pan.
- Bring to pressure on high heat and lower heat after one whistle. Cook on low for 8-10 minutes.
- When pressure reduces, open pan, check seasoning, sprinkle coriander.
- Serve hot with curd and pickle.
